Privacy Policy

Effective date: February 16, 2026

OpenHabitTracker ("we", "our", or "us") is a local-first habit and task tracking application (the "Service").

This page explains our privacy practices and how we handle your data across all versions of the Service, including:

Information Collection

OpenHabitTracker is designed to store all your data locally on your device. By default, we do not collect personal information, usage data, telemetry, or track your activity in any version of the Service.

If you choose to use optional features, such as backups or self-hosted syncing, any data you provide for those features is under your control and is not automatically collected or accessed by us. Any data sent via these features is transmitted only to locations you configure.

Use of Data

Because your data is stored locally by default, we do not use your personal information for any purpose. Optional sync or backup features are strictly for your own access and convenience.

Third-Party Services

The Service does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services in any version. The only exception is the public website (https://openhabittracker.net/), which may use third-party analytics tools to monitor anonymous website traffic. These tools do not collect personally identifiable information.

Security

OpenHabitTracker prioritizes your data security, but because most data remains on your device, security depends on your own device practices. Optional backups or syncs should also be secured by you. We do not have access to your local data or any optional backups you configure.

Children's Privacy

The Service does not impose an age restriction and can be used by anyone. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children without consent.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
